UMS Skeldar has acquired the assets of Germany’s Hirthmotoren (Hirth Motors), engine manufacturer for air, water and land applications, the company announced on 1 May.

The acquisition will provide UMS Skeldar with its own engine manufacturing capability along with a list of customers including, RUAG, Fresh-Breeze, PF Pumpen and Ziegler, MartinUAV and Recreational Power Engineering, and Denel.

Hirth develops two-stroke engine products and technologies. The company’s business includes research, development and manufacturing from its site at Benningen, near Stuttgart.

Hirth is also known for innovation across a range of UAV engine classes and specifications, and the development of advanced technology to create customer off the shelf propulsion systems, including for the Skeldar V-200 rotary UAV.
