Nevada’s UAS test site has been selected for the US Department of Transportation/FAA UAS Traffic Management (UTM) Pilot Project (UPP) demonstration, the Nevada Institute for Autonomous Systems announced on 15 January.
The project is intended to develop and demonstrate a traffic management system to safely integrate UAS within the National Airspace System. The UPP includes the development and demonstration of enterprise services to support initial UTM operations.
The Nevada UPP will focus on advanced airspace, UAS and sensor technology for safe UAS airspace operations in an urban environment. The demonstrations for the UPP will be conducted in Reno, Nevada, with additional testing in Henderson or Laughlin, Nevada.
