Founded in 1901 the British Standards Institute has been putting down its mark for some time now. They are turning their focus to Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA). You have until August the 10th to add your thoughts.

They don’t ask for much but in light of recent UK Government talks of mandatory registration, I think it would be wise to let them know your feelings en masse.

I think the training provided by the BMFA is more than adequate for the operation of equipment weighing less than 4kg in uncongested areas.

The development of a national standard which focuses on the training of operatives employed in civilian industries which utilise Unmanned Aircraft Systems (typically UAS pilots) with the objective of codifying levels of training and credentials for workers and service providers offering such training.

There are many great service providers that could cover larger platforms, congested and hazardous areas. I won’t single out any in particular.

We saw poor interaction from the community in the Government consultation that led to proposed mandatory licencing.

I hope many more interested parties will get on board with this one.
