Blighter Surveillance Systems will supply its counter-UAS radar technology to Liteye Systems, the company announced on 25 October.
Liteye is working on a contract to deliver containerised counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-AUDS) to the US Department of Defense by the end of 2018.
Under the contract with Liteye, Blighter will supply its Ku-band micro Doppler A400 series air security/UAS detection radars. The radar is a modular non-rotating, electronic-scanning system using power efficient passive electronically scanned array and frequency modulated continuous wave technologies to provide reliable, small and slow UAS detection even in complex environments.
Liteye’s C-AUDS system, featuring the Blighter A400 series radar, will detect, track, identify and defeat enemy UAS at ranges of up to 3.5km using layered defences.
The A400 solid-state all-weather radar also features digital drone detection technology that enables it to extract the tiny reflections from modern plastic bodied UAS even when they are flying close to the ground or near buildings.
